Sunday Surf: The Best of What I Read This Week
| March 6, 2011 | Filled under Sunday Surf |
My favorite posts this week come from my friends at theSITSgirls.com who are participating in a 31 day blogging challenge with me. We are 1/2 way there!
I was inspired to make Green Smoothies after reading, Nicole Rivera’s post called “My First “Green Drink” at her blog about eating more healthy. Read about her first experience and how her husband reacted. After reading the post, I went to the store and bought the ingredients and made my own version of a Green Smoothie.
For a delightful poem about what it means to become a parent, visit “I Thought I Knew Mama” blog. She wrote this poem for her son’s dedication ceremony and it eloquently describes the change of priorities in a new parent’s life.
On another note, I watched a few videos for research about Greener Cleaning and want to share this CBC documentary called: Toxic Brew. It’s about the chemicals in household cleaners and their relationship to allergies and asthma. A must watch if you have family members who can’t seem to stay well.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you enjoyed reading this week.

I was inspired to make Green Smoothies after reading, Nicole Rivera’s post called “My First “Green Drink” at her blog about eating more healthy. After reading her post, I went to the store and bought the ingredients and made my own version of a Green Smoothie.
- Soy Milk
- One pear
- One mango
- One banana
- Organic Baby Spinach
- Honey
- A few ice cubes
Then I washed the spinach and fresh fruit. I sliced the pear and left the skin on for more nutrients. The mango was disappointing on the inside and I had to throw it away… (maybe next time we’ll have a good mango.) I peeled the banana and broke it into bite sizes. I put the spinach in the blender first and the fruit on top and then added the soy milk and honey.
If you want exact measurements, I don’t cook that way.
I blended until it was fluffy!
This made enough for 3 servings. My husband and daughter were both asking to try it (yeah we are kinda weird like that… we were eating healthy, when eating healthy wasn’t cool!)
The reviews came in…
Husband said, “I like it! It tastes like a healthy milkshake and it has a fresh taste.”
Daughter said, ” It’s good. It tastes fresh and healthy, and it tastes like summer.”
This made such an easy dinner for us make and eat. Great for busy families.
Now, you might be asking why this in on Greener Cleaning Moms blog? Well make one and see if there is enough fiber in it to cause some intestinal cleaning. Let’s hope it does! We all need more fiber and to keep our intestines clean.
If you make green smoothies, please share your recipe and/or link up to your blog post about your favorite smoothie.
